Bird - I saw them around 1984-1985... they opened for Madonna on her Like A Virgin tour at the Open Air Theater in San Diego. I usually don't pay attention to the name of the opening band, but the Beasties were the exception.
I have seen them so many times from the 80's until the late 90's ( after that I am too old) :)

Aww... I'm experiencing a flashback:
Grade 8 public school dance. This guy that was sorta dorky, but sorta cute (finally) gets the nerve up to ask me to dance and I say yes. Unfortunatly, the slow song that was just playing comes to an end about 10 seconds after he asks me, and Fight for Your Right starts playing. My first instinct is to stop dancing, but he keeps dancing, and me (a semi-dorky 13 year old) doesn't know what to do.
Solution: Slow dance to Fight For Your Right while a mosh pit forms around us.

I'm not a huge fan. However, I purchased their album 'The In Sound From Way Out' I believe it was titled. I loved it, still do. Sort of an acid jazz funky oddness. Totally not their normal stuff... I don't think. It's a great CD if you haven't heard it. Unless you're not into that type of music :)

Just saw the "final" tour last fall in Chicago!
I love them I never got to see them play live though.
