Poppies

My yard has its annual poppies popping up way too early! It is still Winter.

I love the little flames. They open at dawn and curl up tight at night.
They are wild and untamed. And a bit unkempt! Native flowers.

They are also the California State Flower.

I am too much of a teacher...sorry.

This sleek, little man is called a Phainopepla. (Fey-na-pep-o-la)

The females still have the crown but are grey. Both have the red eyes.
You can see them in SoCal but they like to winter in the desert.
I just saw some in Jan. ( Yes, I was excited. Stop laughing).

Sheryl Had Breast Cancer Surgery!

They said she caught it early so she should be ok.
She had the procedure at a hospital near my house (not that I saw her or anything)

Hope she's ok...
Hope this isn't why they broke up.
Nahh, couldn't be. Even Lance isn't that much of a jerk.

Owl Love You

Ok I don't know if you can tell what this is, but don't despair, I'll solve the mystery.


It is an owl made of (bwaaahaahaa) seashells and googly eyes.

Why?
I don't know.
Who is the artist?
Again,don't know.

Why do I own it?
It was a joke gift from a sick individual.
It is from a thrift store called Out of the Closet and I love that sweet ,little shell owl!

Ode to Cookie

This is my mom's beloved dog, Cookie.
She died this week . She was such a sweetie.

She was no bigger than 6 pounds.

My poor mom is so sad.

The Tile is Almost In!

This is a terrible photo but it gives the feel of it.
I'll try a better one later!


We are making some progress with the house.
The tile in the kitchen is almost done.
It is a pretty slate-looking porcelain.
We picked up the dishwasher but it can't go in until the floor is done,
We have no stove so Mr. Bird is BBQ-ing so we can eat something besides
microwave food.
We are lucky to be able to bbq in February.
